Dr. Phua, an ex-NIE Researcher with postgraduate degrees from Cambridge and Hong Kong, is dedicated to making complex concepts accessible to all students. Specialising in urban cultural studies, anthropology, and holding a PHD in Cultural Studies, she brings a wealth of knowledge in socio-political issues in Singapore, Southeast Asia, and South Asia.

Dr Phua uses a step-by-step framework to simplify difficult concepts, ensuring steady progress. In TTT, she combines her expertise with her passion for teaching, creating a positive and tailored experience for every student.

Mr. Ravi

Mr. Ravi is a seasoned educator with decades of experience as a former MOE-trained GP Lecturer, having taught in Junior Colleges and prominent tuition centres in Singapore. His engaging and humorous approach has made him a beloved teacher, known for his ability to motivate students to think critically and develop strong study habits. Mr. Ravi has also taught at Monash University as an intermediate and advanced English college Tutor and worked as an private Economics and GP tutor before joining The Thought Tailor.

Ms Chung

Ms. Chung is a PSC scholar, and award winning writer with nearly a decade of teaching experience at top secondary schools, including Raffles Girls’ School. Recognised for her academic excellence, Ms. Chung received the Public Service Commission Overseas Merit Scholarship and completed her Bachelors’ Degree in English Literature at a top UK university. Her award winning screenwriting skills, including First Prizes in international and local competitions, highlight her excellent writing capabilities.

In addition to her teaching experience, Ms. Chung has worked in various government departments, including the Ministry of Education and Ministry of National Development. Her roles at curriculum policy and early childhood education have given her a comprehensive understanding of students’ needs. This diverse experience helps her cater to the individual concerns of her students.

Ms. Chung is passionate about collaborative learning and values her student’s opinions, seeing them as co-creators of knowledge. Mr. Denson Lo


Mr Denson brings over 16 years of experience teaching GCE A-Level H1 General Paper in both MOE school and private education settings. He taught at Hwa Chong Institution from 2009 to 2017, and was responsible to help develop the department’s curriculum and setting of the school’s GP examination papers. After which, he continued to teach GP at Learners Lodge, before moving on to be a GP lecturer at Equistar International College, continuing his focus on GP instruction and curriculum development.

At Hwa Chong Institution, Mr Denson was responsible for curriculum writing and planning for A-Level subjects, exam paper setting for continual assessments and promotional examinations, and served as Teacher-in-Charge of the English Departmental Publications. His teaching portfolio also includes H2 English Language and Linguistics, H2 Literature in English, and H1 Project Work, where he served as both the assessor and moderator.

Mr Denson holds a Bachelor of Arts (Merit) in English Language and Literature from the National University of Singapore and a Diploma in Education from Hwa Chong Centre for Pedagogical Excellence. He was recognised for teaching excellence at Hwa Chong Institution, receiving the Most Caring Teacher Award annually from 2009 to 2016 and the Best Teaching Practice Award in 2014.

Mr. Jarrod

Mr. Jarrod is an experienced English and Literature Teacher with leadership roles at Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) and the School of Science and Technology (SST). An MOE Teaching Scholar with a post-graduate diploma in education, he has taught, developed, and administered curricula at various educational levels, including Primary and Secondary. His roles as Department Coordinator and Head Of Department have strengthened his skills in classroom management and student engagement.

He helped to pioneer the International Baccalaureate Programme at HCI and developed Applied Learning curricula at SST, becoming familiar with the latest O level, N level, IP, and IB requirements. Mr Jarrod is passionate about teaching English and integrating media literacy, which helps students develop critical thinking skills and engage with global themes.

In addition to his teaching expertise, Mr. Jarrod has a strong interest in social-emotional learning and leadership development, striving to help students grow both academically and personally. His goal is to inspire students through engaging lessons that foster independence, curiosity, and meaningful discussions.

Dr. Lee

Dr. Lee brings a unique blend of educational expertise and technological savvy to his role as a self-proclaimed tech geek. He spent eight years teaching O-Level, IP, and IBDP subjects at Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), where he worked with students from both mainstream and Gifted Education Programme (GEP) classes. His most rewarding experience was learning from students with learning disabilities in the GEP, which deepened his understanding of inclusive education.

Following this, he conducted research at the National Institute of Education, focusing on conceptual development, social learning, and learning technology. He also mentored trainee drama teachers during their teaching practicum. His Ph.D. study with the National Institute of Education’s English Language and Literature department explored identity strategies in everyday conversations using big data analytics. After a stint in the non-profit Arts and Culture sector, where he honed his managerial skills, Dr. Lee has returned to his first love — teaching.

Mr. Lee

A highly experienced educator who taught in various Junior Colleges and Secondary Schools, Mr Lee has the know-how and patience to inspire young learners. His undying passion for teaching is sure to spur your thinking and ignite your love of learning.

A graduate from Nanyang Technological University’s Bachelor of Arts (Education) programme, Mr lee has more than a decade’s worth of teaching experience under his belt at various Junior Colleges and Secondary Schools, including ACJC, Nan Hua High School, and Maris Stella High School. He is an MOE-trained English and English literature teacher and has taught both as an adjunct teacher with the Ministry of Education and as a tutor at the Thought Tailor Learning Centre.

At present, he has been deployed as a flexi-adjunct teacher at an all-boys SAP secondary school. His duties include teaching English Language and Literature, in addition to setting test and examination papers that meet the requirements of the latest revised syllabi. Many of his students have seen a significant improvement in their results, with a number scoring distinctions at the national examinations

Prof. Chua

Professor Chua is a widely respected educator known for his intense, thought provoking lessons. With over a decade of MOE experience teaching GP and project work across top JCs, he is renowned for challenging students to think deeper and craft original perspectives in their essays.

A PSC teaching scholar, Prof. Chua holds a Master’s in Modern Languages, Literature and Culture from King’s College London and PhD in Cultural Studies in Asia from NUS. He has also taught humanities and social sciences at NUS and NTU, receiving a Teaching award for his excellence in university instruction.

Recognised for his curriculum leadership and resource design, Prof. Chua was selected to lead enrichment programmes for high-performing students. Ms. Dawn

Ms Dawn is a passionate educator with nearly 20 years’ experience spanning MOE schools and international institutions. After graduating with top honours in English Literature from NUS as an MOE scholar, she taught at Victoria JC for 9 years before moving to Commonwealth Secondary and ACS(Independent). Her extensive experience covers O/A Levels, IB and IGCSE syllabi across English, Literature and Geography.

With her Masters in Art History, she brings unique interdisciplinary perspectives to lessons while maintaining strong exam focus. Mr Wee

Ms Raihanah is a former MOE teacher and Head of Department with over 15 years of experience teaching English to primary and secondary students. Now an educator and facilitator, she teaches General Paper at institutions like School of Thought and Indigo, while also offering university admissions consulting. She holds an MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology.

For the past seven years, Ms Sanusha has been deeply involved in youth development as a volunteer, bringing real-world insights on systems thinking and social innovation to her teaching. Ms. Janice
