Ms Janice is an experienced tutor, having taught Primary and Secondary English, English Literature and IP Language Arts at a number of top centres including Mindstretcher. Ms Raihanah is a former MOE teacher and Head of Department with over 15 years of experience teaching English to primary and secondary students.

Mr. Yeo graduated from the National University of Singapore with a double major in sociology and economics. An experienced tutor, he has taught at a number of tuition centres in Singapore, specialising in primary and secondary school English.

Which paper in O-Level English is the most important?

While both papers are equally essential to help you score well in English, Paper 2 is definitely more important than Paper 1. In Paper 2, 1 mark is equivalent to 0.7% of your total grade, compared to 0.5% in Paper 1. Additionally, Paper 2 is easier to score too!

Which type of essay should I do in Continuous Writing?

At the Secondary level, narrative and descriptive writing essays are hard to fail, yet hard to excel. However, this will do you no good as you would eventually have to progress to argumentative and expository writing at higher levels like Junior College. Besides, with a limited vocabulary, such essays are more forgiving on the vocabulary and let your logic take centre stage. Hence, we encourage students to practise argumentative and expository writing in Secondary school which reveals greater maturity of your thoughts.
