I joined TTT in September 2019 and attended the “Unusual and Effective” lesson as my first class. I left the class feeling shocked yet hopeful as I, like many other 15 year old Singaporeans, did not know I could “study for English” or even use a specific technique to answer certain question types. As a “B4” student, I was elated as I began on my TTT journey to clutch an “A1” for my O Levels.
TTT is truly more than a tuition centre. Apart from the bizarre stormtrooper standing at the reception area, the classrooms are conducive and always filled with joy as my teacher goes through the lesson. Speaking of my teacher, Mr Russell has shone a new light on the previous impression I had on tuition teachers. Tuition teachers to me were simply teachers that would teach and then promptly put an end to all interaction after the weekly 2 hours that we pay them for. Not only does Mr Russell text us to check up on our progress and answer all our questions but he also takes the time to give us interesting life advice such as guiding us on our post secondary school choices and even some of our own personal problems like mental health.
The teachers at TTT are proficient at teaching, coming up with the most detailed and powerful notes, and most importantly make tuition feel more like a second home and not just another burden to hold.
Personally, I usually do not fare as well in Paper 2 and would constantly only get borderline passes. Because of TTT, my grades went from a borderline pass to an “A” and during my recent preliminary examination, I was even top of the cohort for the Narrative Comprehension. In retrospect, I would not understand why people would second guess themselves about joining TTT. The environment, teachers, study materials, friendships made, and most importantly the grades that I achieved really speaks for the success of TTT. If I were you, I would be signing up now!
