Before joining TTT, I thought that improving my score for the English Language Paper depended solely on reading books and improving the range of vocabulary words that I am familiar with. Hence, I was not very motivated to study English.
The lessons at TTT have made me realise that English was more than just reading books or current affairs. Throughout my entire time at TTT, I was taught skills and techniques to help me with my essay writing, situational writing, comprehension and summary skills. Mr. Russell was the best English teacher when he was previously teaching in my school. His lessons are very meticulously prepared, and I really like his approach, especially his step-by-step strategies to tackle the different types of comprehension and essay questions. Unlike other teachers who teach in a messy and confusing manner, Mr. Russell often aims to show us macro trends and patterns for each section of the paper, as well as how to think and address the requirements of the different components.
I also like how he is extremely sharp and analytical and his drill practices covered all possible arrangements and permutations to a specific question type. His consultation sessions also helped me to become more aware of my weak areas and also how to overcome these issues. He is also very friendly, patient and approachable, and often gives us tips and advice on how to prepare for the exams. I would like to thank him for his passion and for inspiring me to do better in English. I would not have been able to improve my grades from a C5 during my S3 EOY to an A2 for my S4 CA2 if not for him!
