Before joining TTT, English Language was one of the subjects that I was unable to do well in. My understanding of the skills required was simply not very good. I did not know what exactly I could do to improve my situational writing and essay writing skills. I also did not know that there is actually a way to study or practise for comprehension. My grade just continuously deteriorated from Secondary 1 onwards.
When I found out about TTT, I was a bit hesitant as I did not know if it would help me. However, till today, I have never regretted joining. Mr Russell’s lessons have always been fun and engaging. He would often joke with us but he can be very strict as well. As he got to know me better, he would also be able to tell us our strengths and weaknesses, and he would give us simple tips on how we can take a step forward and make visible progress. He always provides us with notes which are very useful. I found myself relying completely on his materials rather than my school materials when studying and preparing for the English Language Examinations.
He would also often use videos or different strategies to make the class more engaging and this certainly made it easier for us to understand the skills and content taught.
Because of TTT, my results improved by three grades. During my time in secondary three, my grade was constantly stuck at grade 5. However, after joining TTT, my grade has improved to a grade 2 for my N level preliminary examinations. I managed to obtain one of the top 3 places in class for the English Language subject. Therefore, I am really glad and thankful to have had a teacher like him to guide me in my preparation for the N Level examinations!
