Mr Russell is an outstanding teacher as he always puts in a lot of effort into his lessons, which stems from his strong passion in teaching English and GP and helping students improve. When I first joined TTT, I did not know all the question types for comprehension questions, nor did I know that there was even a recommended step by step approach for various comprehension question types. Paper 2 comprehension has always been my biggest weakness and I am glad that TTT could help me tackle it.
Not only did Mr. Russell cover the various question types tested, he also provided many useful worksheets that aided in me in applying the concepts I’ve learnt. He was especially selective in printing out practises for us because he focuses on targeting specific skills at a time so as to ensure that we will not be overwhelmed by too many concepts. This has made learning very fun and engaging. Aside from going through the answer sheet, he would also go into detailed explanations on questions which required more attention. This targeted learning approach has proven to be very useful.
When I was taught more complex things beyond my syllabus such as a 3-point argumentative essay at TTT, I began to be intrigued about the concepts and would usually search it up during my free time outside school and lessons. These concepts encouraged me to pick up new knowledge and broadened my horizons. I still remember learning about Speech Writing (SW) last year from Mr Russell, who had shown us through videos the eloquent way that Severn Suzuki and Oprah Winfrey gave their speeches to help us gain a better idea of the many kinds of persuasive techniques that we could include in our Speech writing. When teaching oral, he also sought to teach us more unique content to enable us to have an edge over other students. I remember him discussing interesting sports like SUP Yoga and Bossaball. Additionally, he also described to us his personal experience at various commercial gyms to aid us in our elaboration during our spoken interactions for Oral, making the lesson more engaging.
I would like to thank Mr Russell for always having high expectations of me because these expectations really pushed me to work harder. Other teachers may give up on their students easily, but Mr Russell is not like them. I’m extremely thankful that Mr Russell has never given up on me. TTT also stands out from other centres because it allows students to consult their teachers on Whatsapp anytime. Arrangements for Zoom consultations are possible as well, without any additional charges. This goes to show that the teachers there are truly concerned with and dedicated to helping their students improve. I would recommend TTT to others because it is very affordable. Taking into consideration all of its strategic notes and resources provided, I firmly believe that the lessons there are worth it. If not for TTT, I believe it would have been extremely difficult for me to not only top my class in English but also achieve an A2 for my O Levels.
