Before I joined TTT, I had always disliked English and felt that my poor grasp of the subject was hindering my overall progress. I always felt as though it was hopeless to study for a subject that I felt had no straightforward answer to. Fortunately, TTT taught me about the various components of the English subject as well as the respective techniques that I could use to answer them.
The centre covers everything in the syllabus and beyond. Mr Russell is an extremely hardworking and meticulous individual who is willing to spend numerous hours burning the midnight oil to mark our work or prepare extra notes to ensure that his students understand the lessons. He is also very particular about his marking schemes and notes as he would always check and ensure that they were of good quality before teaching them in class. I believe that his diligent and open-minded attitude towards teaching and his aggressive passion to always improve on his teaching makes him a unique teacher.
While their lessons are fun, TTT does not compromise on their high standards either. With the wide range of different intensive drill lessons, I am able to recognise my weaknesses in the various components that are tested for EL. These lessons allow me to practise each component until I master them. Moreover, before joining, I had always struggled with comprehension question types such as Writer’s Craft, Unusual and Effective Questions and Hybrid Essay. With their lessons, I had significantly less trouble in answering such questions as Mr Russell’s intensive skills-based lessons were the solution to my problems. In addition, his step-by-step approach for comprehension and essay writing really make understanding the lessons easy and manageable!
Mr Russell has proven to be professional, patient and supportive with his teaching. Given his experience in school, as well as his reputation as one of the best and most driven teachers in my secondary school, Mr. Russell is well-poised to answer almost any question regarding the subject. I would like to thank Mr Russell for making English such a fun subject to learn. Thanks to my teacher’s guidance, English has become much easier to learn, digest and love. In school, English lessons would feel boring as they were lacking in exciting activities. However, Mr Russell manages to make English lessons enjoyable as he always keeps his students engaged and occasionally tells jokes which make his classes laugh.
Being someone who gets distracted easily, joining TTT has allowed me to get the essential last minute drilling I needed before my O Levels. Moreover, the guidance provided has proven to be quite crucial in the development of my English skills as a student and as an individual. Thanks to TTT I was able to see a 3 grade improvement to a B3 in just a few months. I definitely would recommend TTT to my juniors if they are looking for a surefire way to improve their English grades.
