I joined TTT in March 2020, after noticing little improvements in my English Language grades, which was firmly stuck in the B4/C5 range. I felt that my tuition sessions and school lessons were not impactful, and I was really worried about my grades, and I was quite pessimistic about the possibility of achieving my target of getting an A2 for the O level. It was during a random discussion with my classmate that I found out that my former school teacher Mr. Russell had opened a tuition centre.I was aware at that time that Mr Russell is an excellent English teacher, as he had taught me in school when I was in Secondary 1 and 2 and my class would constantly achieve the best performance in the cohort. It was no surprise that I immediately called, enquired and joined the centre.
It was good to be reunited with Mr. Russell. After a few months of his intensive lessons, I managed to see an improvement in my work and English results. At the centre, the teacher focuses on laying down a strong foundation for the students. This is usually done through notes and practises given by the teacher. The notes given at the TTT tuition centre are like no others. It provides students with easy understanding of different components such as hybrid essays. The notes are personally created by Mr. Russell and are catered specifically to meet the needs of his students. I remembered that he often created additional notes for us, especially if we are weaker, or if we had several issues or bad habits that he wanted to eradicate. He was extremely analytical and sharp in terms of pinpointing our errors, and he meticulously provided us with a step by step solution to help us overcome our difficulties and misconceptions.
Every piece of notes serves a purpose in helping the students to improve. Mr Russell believes that English is a subject that is all about learning basic skills followed by sophisticated skills, and he believes that if students constantly practise them like how they would practise problem sums for mathematics or science, we would not have any issues tackling the English Language examinations.
Under Mr Russell’s guidance, I have seen an improvement in my English Language results. Although I have not reached my target of achieving a distinction yet, I am glad to say that I have more confidence now in getting at least an A2 for my ‘O’ Levels. If I continue to work hard and follow the lead of Mr Russell. I am sure that getting an A2 is not impossible at all. TTT is a place which provides students with step by step guidance. I will definitely recommend TTT to anyone who has the desire and determination to perform well in their English Language Examinations.
