7 Unadulterated Advice for JC

As you wrap up Secondary school and embark on your next journey in tertiary education, Junior College may seem daunting and intimidating.

Here are 7 unadulterated advice for JC!

  1. Friendships – Quality over quantity

There is tremendous value in having a few deep, meaningful friendships rather than numerous superficial ones. On average, you will only remain friends with 5 of your JC friends (after JC).

      2. CCA leadership positions matter

      3. Cut the orientation camp honeymoon period as early as possible

      4. Study harder for preliminary examinations than for A-levels

      5. (For girls) Shortlist some career and university options early

Girls need to shortlist some career and university options because you only have 2 months after receiving A-Level results to finalise your decision while boys have 2 years to reconsider and retry university application.

      6. For the high achievers, an “A” grade is not enough

      7. Milk your teachers for free consultations as early as possible

As early as possible – teachers packed nearer exam season, so not free to see you.

At The Thought Tailor, GP is taught as a thinking subject rather than a content-heavy one. Through our GP tuition, students learn how to structure essays, analyse passages precisely and evaluate arguments effectively across all components of the A-Level General Paper exam.
